Carezza Pass - Obereggen - Pala Group - Marmolada

Skisafari: a week skiing from village to village, valley to valley, mountain to mountain via the largest lift system in the world to be linked on a single ticket. The Super Dolomite ski pass encompasses over 450 ski lifts and we take advantage of this to bring you our new safari route. This southern route takes you from the Passo Costa Lunga through the areas of Carezza, Latemar, Passo San Pellegrino, Alpi di Luisa , the Marmolada and the Fassa Valley.

DAY 1.SATURDAY: Arrival

Meet your guides and fellow safari goers at 6pm in Siusi/Seis. Over welcome drinks you will be issued your lift pass and be briefed about the procedure for the week. Excess baggage may be left here if not required during the safari.


DAY 2. CAREZZA - OBEREGGEN

We start out on the sunny open slopes under the rugged cliffs of the Rose Garden massive. From the Rosegarden Hut at 2370m we ski the long 1250 v.m. run down to Nova Levante where a taxi waits to take us to Obereggen (25 Min) and the modern ski area on the Latemar with its 65km of groomed runs and cosy mountain bars. In the late afternoon we ski to the other side of the valley and the Alpi di Luisa.
Our overnight stay will be at 2050m in a traditional mountain guesthouse with share facilities and a spectacular view of the Pala group, the Latemar and the Catinaccio.


DAY 3: PALA GROUP - S.MARTINO DI CASTROZZA

After some excilerating runs down the well groomed runs of the Luisa or some interesting off piste excursions, it is on to the Rolle Pass and the ski area of San Martino di Castrozza with more choices of off piste skiing for the advenurous ones.
Here we will spend 2 nights in a *** Hotel.


DAY 4: SAN MARTINO

Tognola, Malga Ces, and the Ski Carosel of S. Martino have approx. 60km of groomed open and forest runs.
The cable car to the Rosetta, 2740m, in good conditions , opens steep, long, off piste areas between the huge craggy cliffs.


DAY 5: PALA - PELLEGRINO

We begin the day with an easy off piste run (taxi transfer a possible alternative) from the Rolle Pass to the Valles Pass. Via the many lifts and exciting runs past the Mount Monzoni we eventually arrive at our destination of Fucchiade.


DAY 6: PELLEGRINO - MARMOLADA

We ski the steep northfacing slopes and wide long runs from Col Margherita to Passo San Pellegrino with its sunny slopes and frequent spring snow conditions
In the afternoon there is the long 1300v.m. run to Falcade where our transfer meeet sus to take us to Sotto Guda at teh foot ofg the Marmolada glacier.


DAY 7: MARMOLADA - CAREZZA

The wide northfacing slopes of the glacier provide ample off piste excitement and its long perfectly goomed runs are a skier's dream. (Unfortuantely the glacier is open only when weather conditions permit).
We then ski via Arrabba and Canazei to the areas of the Gardena Valley: Seceda, 2520m, descente to Ortisei, 1200m Transfer back to our final overnight stop in Siusi.


DAY 8: SATURDAY: Departure day

After breakfast you ski safari, like all good things, comes to an end.

ACCOMODATION

Some of the hotels and mountain inns are situated directly on the slopes. They all offer good cuisine and a cosy, friendly atmosphere. 6 nights at a hotel ***, 1 night at a comfortable mountain inn. Double rooms and multiple bed rooms. A limited number of single rooms is available. Accommodation is subject to change.

ARRIVAL DETAILS
  • Arriving by car:
    North from the Brenner Highway
    Exit: CHIUSA/KLAUSEN (about 20 km north of Bolzano).
    Take the state road south to PONTE GARDENA/ WAIDBRUCK (about 10 km)
    Over the railway crossing turn left through the tunnel and follow the directions to KASTELRUTH, SCHLERNGEBIET, /SUISI/SEIS.
    From the South via the Brenner Highway:
    Exit: BOLZANO NORTH
    Follow the signs to Seis/Siusi and the Seiseralm/Alpi di Siusi
  • Arriving by train:
    Via Munich, Innsbruck or from the south via Verona to BOLZANO.
  • By air:
    The BOLZANO airport has connections from FRANKFURT, DÜSSELDORF, VIENNA and LINZ. Charter flights HAMBURG - BOZEN: These flights operate on Saturdays between 8 January and 19 February.

Transfer Service:

If you are arriving by train or air into Bolzano please advise us so that you may take advantage of our complimentary scheduled transfers from Bolzano to your hotel.


Equipment checklist
  • Downhill ski equipment
  • Warm, weatherproof ski clothing
  • All weather over jacket jacket for extreme conditions
  • Sun glasses (Revo sun glasses available form our Alpine School Shop) sun cream, goggles
  • Small day pack (also available from the Alpine School shop)
  • Avalanche transceiver (may be hired from the Alpine shop). It is obligatory to carry a trans ceiver when skiing off piste.
  • Soft bag or backpack for your safari luggage transfer. Maximun weight 14kg. Available from the Alpine school if required.
